Y&R Asia doubles last year’s haul at Cannes Lions 2014

CANNES — Y&R Asia has won a stunning 18 Cannes Lions in 2014, comprising 2 Gold, 1 Cannes Chimera, 7 Silver, 8 Bronze and Shortlists across 10 offices: Red Fuse Communications Hong Kong, Y&R Beijing & Shanghai, Y&R Malaysia, Y&R Yangon, Y&R Singapore, Y&R Philippines, Y&R Thailand, Y&R Vietnam and Dentsu Y&R Tokyo.

Colgate-Palmolive’s ‘Turning Packaging into Education’ campaign from Red Fuse Communications Hong Kong / Y&R Yangon /Y&R Malaysia won 4 Cannes Lions – 1 Gold, 2 Silver and 1 Bronze. These are the world’s first Cannes Lions wins for Myanmar and Red Fuse’s debut wins at advertising’s most prestigious awards.

Y&R China brought home a total of ten Cannes Lions, 1 Gold, 3 Silver and 3 Bronze for Y&R Beijing, 2 Silver and 1 Bronze for Y&R Shanghai. This 10 Lions and 35 Shortlists haul is Y&R China’s best ever performance at Cannes; Y&R is China’s most-awarded agency for the second year running.

Y&R Beijing’s 7 Lions 2014 were awarded to the ‘Mic’, ‘Stages’ and ‘10M² of Love’ campaigns for clients Penguin China and UNICEF China. Y&R Shanghai’s 3 Lions 2014 were awarded to ‘A Cut Above’ and ‘The Power of Color’ campaigns for clients Zhang Xiao Quan and Pantone.

Y&R Singapore was presented with the Chimera Cannes Lion, having won this year’s global challenge to help eradicate extreme poverty by 2030, funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Y&R Singapore’s winning team comprised young talents Emir Shafri, Mervin Ng, Hisashi Matsui, and (the not so young talent) Marcus Rebeschini.

As well as Gold for Colgate-Palmolive, Y&R Malaysia took home Bronze for ‘8 Lives’. Y&R Philippines won Bronze for Maynilad ‘Dengue Bottle’ and Y&R Bangkok won Bronze for DTAC ‘Rebirth of Sound’. Among the Shortlists were Y&R Vietnam’s Nutifood ‘Plastic Bottle Life Vest’, Dentsu Y&R Tokyo’s ‘Banana Trophy’ and an amazing Titanium Shortlist for VML/Y&R Singapore’s ‘Guide Dots’.
