Filipina Global Art Director Lex Remalante selected for prestigious See It Be It program at Cannes Lions 2023

CANNES, FRANCE — Cannes Lions has announced the participants chosen for the 2023 See It Be It female talent acceleration program. Proudly banning the Philippines and Denmark, Lex Remalante is among the 16 female creatives, from 14 countries, who have been selected to take part in a unique development experience at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, in partnership with Verizon, taking place from June 19 to 23.

Lex is a proud Filipina Global Art Director at The Barn in Arla Foods HQ located in Denmark where she creates campaigns for brands such as Lurpak, Starbucks, and Arla Masterbrands. Before she left Manila, she spent 11 years collectively in advertising agencies Leo Burnett and Dentsu Jayme Syfu, where she handled brands like Coca-Cola, McDonald’s, Nescafé, Uniqlo, WWF, Unilever, P&G, and more. She was a creative director and led design solutions in Dentsu for purposive campaigns that address mental health, LGBTQIA+, sustainability, and women’s rights.

As a participant in this year’s See It Be It program, Lex will have the opportunity to attend exclusive sessions and workshops with industry leaders, receive mentorship and guidance from experienced professionals, and participate in networking events with other See It Be It participants from around the world.

Lex’s journey from Manila to Denmark, and now to Cannes, is a testament to her hard work, talent, and passion for using creativity as a force for good. She said, “See It Be It just had a record year with 700 applicants. It is such an honor to be one of the 16 cohorts and to represent the Philippines and Denmark at the same time. This achievement and opportunity were never just for my own benefit, but for every woman and for every underrepresented community whose bravery and brilliance are just waiting to be seen and celebrated, in the global creative scene.”

The See It Be It talent program was founded in 2014 by Cannes Lions to achieve equal gender representation of creative directors and leaders across the global industry. The 16 creatives selected to make up the 2023 class will receive an all-access Festival pass, travel to and from Cannes, accommodation courtesy of the Festival, and will attend an exclusive program of events and mentoring workshops with some of the most respected leaders in the industry today. This year an Alumni Tutor has been introduced to the program for the first time, to support the women throughout the week and take the program experience to the next level. Selected from last year’s cohort through an application and interview process, Steph Cajucom, Creative Director of Translation, has been appointed to take on this role. She will work closely with Program Ambassador Madonna Badger to elevate the program and further, the impact See It Be It has on the industry well beyond the Festival week.

Madonna Badger, See It Be It Chairperson and Ambassador, Founder/CEO/COO of BADGER AGENCY, said, “I am so grateful to have been Chairperson of See It Be It over the last six years, and this year I am super excited to be the Ambassador to the 16 women making up the 2023 class of See It Be It.

“The theme for this year is ‘Know your power.’ Creative women have power unlike any other as they use their strengths and vulnerabilities to know their own power and express their talents. This is very true for the 2023 Cannes See It Be It group. The group this year is fantastic and from so many places around the world. It is inspiring and encouraging to meet so many exciting creative women who are dedicated to our craft in all its forms,” Madonna furthered.
