MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Indie singer/songwriter and bedroom producer Peej’s latest track “These Walls” hits all music platforms on November 25. This is the first single from his upcoming album to be released in 2023.

“These Walls” is a song about the self-inflicted trappings of modern dating. The fickleness of love is a theme that Peej is well-known for through his previous work, in particular his self-produced six-track EP entitled Darling (2021) and the popular single “I Should Have Kissed You Then” (2019). In this new track, his sound evolves from raw, acoustic folk to a produced, lofi quality that highlights his hypnotic vocals and wistful lyricism.

“I wrote this song after a date,” Peej said. “I had been single for a long time and we ended up having a conversation about our dating philosophies. During the conversation, I mentioned that I’ve always seemed to have my walls up – and I guess this was the first I had actually acknowledged this and said it out loud. Dating is hard. And I think many people can resonate with the idea of wanting to be free and wanting all the options, to the point that it actually traps us.”

He has garnered 1.5 million organic streams on Spotify and his songs have charted on the top playlists of radio stations like Jam 88.3, 99.5 PLAY FM, and Monster RX 93.1.

“These Walls” comes on the heels of “If You Didn’t Know”, a collaboration with South Korean producer JFLOW released on April 2022 which was featured on several of Spotify’s editorial playlists.

The music video for “These Walls” will be released on November 27 on YouTube.
