LONDON, UK — PRETTYBIRD UK Co-Founder Juliette Larthe has co-directed the new Spiritualized music video with Jason Spaceman. The evocative video captures a live performance, filmed in the band’s studio in Nottingham, of ‘I’m Coming Home.’ A monochrome grade lends a timeless, retro feel.

I’m Coming Home’ is a track from Spiritualized’s forthcoming album ‘Everything was Beautiful’. Larthe and Spaceman recently collaborated on a triptych of films that breathe life into music from the new album. The promo was produced by Chris Murdoch out of PRETTYBIRD with Lottie Lindsay-Bevan assisting with art department and production. Film cinematographer Ben Rivers shot the live performance with a BOLEX and hand developed the 16mm inserts, with cinematographer Henry Lockyer on Canon EOS C500 Mark II, and Kairo Jones filming on an iPad. The film was graded by Isabel Garrett.

PRETTYBIRD UK Co-Founder and Executive Producer Juliette Larthe, who co-directed the film commented, “We had 4 songs and only 3 hours to capture it, so choosing the team for this unusual situation had to be carefully constructed. It was super ambitious to film live in such a small unknown space, out of London. Rain Keene at Assembly Rooms worked closely with Jason Spaceman to get the intense amount of footage matched with the right songs and instruments – no mean feat with 4 guitarists keyboards drums and backin vocals from London Community Gospel Choir. We wanted the live performance capturing to be reminiscent of MC5 in the studio, timeless in its approach to music. J. Spaceman also shot some 2nd unit when the solos or his instrumentation wasn’t in the performance. Chris Murdoch produced and Lottie Lindsay-Beavan assisted with Art Dept and production.

We lit candles and hung star-printed cloths around the studio. With smoke from sage and an oil burner. So the feeling of capturing the mood was magical, and it was a privilege to be in the band’s rehearsal space in Nottingham hearing the songs played live in front of an audience for the first time.”
