MANILA, PHILIPPINES — In its 12th year in business, CASTRO PR welcomed another round of movements within the rapidly-expanding organization. Despite the challenging past few years for the public relations industry, CASTRO PR has managed to not only maintain its bearings but thrive in an environment that tested even its strongest practitioners.

In 2020, CASTRO PR appointed Janice Pomaloy as Operations Directress, with ten years of experience under her belt. Getting a career head start in the challenging retail industry before shifting to PR, Janice has found profound career growth in CASTRO PR, handling the gargantuan task of heading the company’s human resources, finance, logistics, and purchasing functions.

In 2021, the biggest shifts in the agency began with CASTRO PR Founder Martina Castro officially transferring the agency helm to Janlee Dungca, the agency’s former PR Directress. Now Managing Directress, Janlee holds the longest employment tenure in CASTRO PR since she joined within its first year.

She credits her flourishing body of work largely to CASTRO PR’s unwavering commitment to employee diversity, equity, and inclusion. Outside of work, Janlee is highly celebrated as an advocate for LGBTQIAP+ rights and HIV-AIDS awareness. Under her helm, CASTRO has become a proud member of the LGBT Chamber of Commerce, and the Philippine Financial & Inter-industry Pride. It is also the official PR partner of LoveYourself PH, a volunteer-based organization dedicated to the HIV-AIDS advocacy. Janlee’s leadership has constantly been guided by her core values: inclusivity, gratitude, kindness, and empathy.

This year, it becomes Janlee’s turn to announce two newly-appointed leaders who will join her in pushing forward CASTRO PR’s long-standing agenda of creating and executing public relations campaigns that make a mark in the history of the brands they serve.

Jensine Dinglasan, formerly CASTRO PR’s PR Directress, is now the agency’s Account Directress. In this role, she is expected to lead business development and high-quality client servicing, as the agency continues to serve high-caliber retainer partners in the years to come. Jen, as she is fondly referred to by the team, has been part of CASTRO PR for six years, since she started as PR Manager back in 2017.

CASTRO PR is Jen’s foray into public relations, which she shares has given her invaluable expertise as a professional.

“As the newly-appointed Account Directress of CASTRO PR, I cannot stress enough how grateful I am that more than half of our clients are full-time retainers, which means that they trust us to help them amplify their PR strategies. Trustworthiness is crucial. As a result of word of mouth from our previous and existing clients, many brands approach us for our services. To me, partnerships, relationships, and networking are key to our success,” Jen shared.

Taking Jen’s place in the PR department is another seasoned public relations practitioner himself, joining CASTRO PR after almost eight years in the media and public relations industry. Jay Rempis, who joins the agency after his stint as the Account Director of Fleishman-Hillard Manila, as well as the Senior PR Manager of Ad Garlic and Ogilvy & Mather Philippines, brings new energy to the CASTRO PR team as its new PR Director

Aside from looking forward to taking the lead on the agency’s much-anticipated PR activations and campaigns, Jay also expresses how excited he is to be part of an organization that creates a space for the LGBTQIAP+ community to thrive. “The way CASTRO PR is determined to spotlight and elevate the voices of the LGBTQIAP+ community has touched my heart in a profound way. It’s an honor to be part of a company that believes in the importance of inclusive, diverse, and equitable representation all over, especially when it concerns the media. I am humbled by the honor of working side by side with this dedicated and committed team,” Jay commented.

CASTRO PR was named after the historical Castro District in San Francisco, California, a symbol for queer activism all around the world. As such, CASTRO PR continues to champion queer representation in the public relations, media, and communications industries in the country, even beyond June. With these new appointees in the CASTRO PR framework, the team will continue utilizing PR in promoting its advocacies in the years to come.
