LONDON, UK — Dubit, the creator of metaverse experiences, games, and events for brands, has made its second marquee signing in two weeks, announcing the hire of its new finance director (FD), Paul Bone, from Chelsea Digital Ventures, a tech-focused spin-out of Chelsea Football Club. Bone joins just a week after the hire of former VP Global Head of Music at Roblox, Jonathan Vlassopulos.

Chelsea Digital Ventures leverages Chelsea FC’s expertise and intellectual property to create products and partnerships with appeal across and beyond the team’s fanbase, such as the Blue Fuel range of energy drinks. As CFO and Principal, Bone had responsibility for overall strategy and business planning, modeling, and governance across the portfolio.

Prior to his time at Chelsea Digital Ventures, Bone held C-suite finance roles at companies including mobile advertising platform, Axonix (now owned by Emodo), South Korean video games developer and publisher, NCsoft, and social game business We R Interactive. Bone’s director-level career spans more than 15 years and he will now bring his extensive experience and expertise to bear at Dubit.

Announcing the appointment, Matthew Warneford, CEO of Dubit, commented, “Paul has provided financial and strategic guidance to some of the most exciting tech, gaming, and sports organizations. Paul is far more than a numbers guy — he’s an original thinker, innovator, and leader. All of these qualities make for an ideal Dubit hire. We’re over the moon he’s joining the company and he will be integral to shaping the inbound and outbound investment we have planned to fuel our future growth.”

Paul Bone, Dubit’s new FD, commented, “After four years working with leading brands and IP at Chelsea, I’m thrilled to be joining Dubit at such a pivotal point in its journey to give brands the tools and audiences they need to engage their fans in the metaverse. Working with organizations such as Samsung and everyone from Fortune 500 companies to global pop stars, its portfolio really is in a league of its own and I can’t wait to help scale up the business.”

Last year, Dubit raised $8 million to grow its creative and audience services for brands, as well as launch the first esports league in the metaverse, the Metaverse Gaming League. Since then, the pioneering company has gone on to create immersive sporting and musical experiences on Roblox for the likes of UEFA and The Grammys.
