Kimbra headlines Jack TV’s MAD Fest 2014

MANILA – Grammy-winning artist Kimbra is the headlining act at Jack TV’s MAD Fest, a music, arts and dance festival to be held at the SM Mall of Asia concert grounds Block 12 on December 5 from 4 p.m. to 4 a.m.

Kimbra sang with Belgian singer-songwriter Gotye on “Somebody that I used to know,” which won two Grammy Awards for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Record of the Year.

Performing alongside Kimbra are local musical acts such as rock faves Kjwan, Urbandub, Sandwich, and Imago, together with indie rock acts Flying Ipis and Cheats, and pianist-singer-songwriter Kate Torralba.

DJs Ace Ramos, Katsy Lee and duo Deuce Manila will also be spinning, along with DJ-and-drummer duo Motherbass. Electropop act Autotelic and electronica-funk-electro-nusoul-disco-future garage trio Sinyma. Other artists include Chocolate Grass, Toni B., and B.P. Valenzuela. Apart from the music, the festival will also feature art installations from Leeroy New, as well as up and coming artists from Imagine Nation Studio, Jagnus Design Studio, and Secret Studio.

There will also be a spoken word performance with artist siblings Kooky and Richard Tuason, with Richard playing his musical sculpture Ensemblage as Kooky jams in with her poetry. The dance component of the festival will be supplied by Team Vibe, along with college-based dance groups Skittlez Crew from De La Salle University, Trinity University Gimpers, Miriam College Company of One, and the San Beda Red Corps.

Aimed at being the largest production of its league, Jack TV’s MAD Fest 2014 is a year-end party that fuses different cultures and forms of expression.
