SINGAPORE — Ox Street, Singapore’s leading online integrated sneaker-focused marketplace, today announced the expansion of its tech team and the appointment of Ritesh Angural as Head of Product. Bringing in close to 10 years of experience in launching products for startups, Ritesh will be heading the product development team in Ox Street, launching new products and enhancing marketplace experience for users.
Prior to joining Ox Street, Ritesh was part of the early team at RedMart as an engineer turned product manager where he helped in building the ecommerce and logistics platform from scratch. He later went on to create his own business venture and founded Rovo, a leading sports community app with a user base of almost 500,000 across Southeast Asia & India.
Tapping into his diverse experience in the startup scene, Ritesh will bring in his knowledge and learnings from building social communities and ecommerce products into the development of Ox Street’s platform.
With the recent acquisition by Carousell Group and appointment of Ritesh as Head of Product, Ox Street has also expanded its product and technology team to improve customer experience while scaling the business. This allows the company to execute much faster than before. As part of his new role, Ritesh plays a pivotal part in the wider expansion of Ox Street.
“These are exciting times for Ox Street and I am thrilled to be part of the growth of the company. There is no better time to grow as we are at a stage where we have an opportunity to scale up and deliver better experiences to our customers. We have also been developing our teams, and have expanded the product and engineering team from two engineers to ten in less than two months. This will be in addition to the plans we have in the pipeline to grow the team further throughout the year,” said Ritesh.
Prior to the acquisition, CEO and Founder of Ox Street Gijs Verheijke oversaw the fundraising, design, marketing, finance, and product management of the company. With the company still in its early startup stage, Ox Street’s mission remains focused on growth over integration. Sharing more on the company’s plans after the acquisition, Gijs reflects on the importance of building the right team, “Ox Street is investing heavily in the expansion of its services across the region, and we recognise that having the right talent in our core team is a key enabler for growth. Following our recent acquisition by Carousell Group, we are continuing to operate as an independent entity, where our roots as a startup give us flexibility to grow and create the impact we want, all while building the culture to make this happen,” he said.
The expansion of the team also includes employees from Singapore, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Vietnam, widening Ox Street’s footprint and opening doors to new markets around the region. The team will also be working on efforts to launch new features on Ox Street’s platform, and the development of a new and improved mobile app. This will also follow a number of upcoming projects with Carousell Group in the coming months.
