SINGAPORE — Skills-based volunteering charity, talenTtrust, has appointed a new CEO to lead the organization in its mission to create sustainable, high-impact change. Richard Yap will take on the role of CEO, driving strategic growth, engaging with corporate and government stakeholders, and maintaining the highest quality of services and impact.
Richard brings with him over 25 years of experience in banking and investment across pan-Asia. He previously held senior managerial positions at various global institutions. He has also been involved in the non-profit sector since 2009 with participation in the impact investing community. Since returning to Singapore, he has been working with social enterprises and serving on the Board of charities and nonprofits.
Tess Mackean, who has been CEO of talentTrust since its inception in 2014, will be stepping down and taking a seat on talenTtrust’s Board of Directors. Joining her on the board are Eu Yan Sang International Limited’s Managing Director of Mergers & Acquisitions, Richie Eu, and Chief Executive Officer of Quantedge Capital, Mr Suhaimi Zainul-Abidin.
On the new appointment, former CEO Tess Mackean says, “A large part of what we do at talenTtrust is building actionable strategies to boost the skills and confidence of non-profit leaders. Richard’s experience and passion will equip him and the talenTtrust team to deliver even greater support for the sustainable growth of non-profit leaders and organizations across Singapore.”
“When I served with other nonprofits in the past, the importance of building strong skills was evident to the success of an organization. While passion drives leaders forward, organizational skills, revenue planning, marketing, and fundraising strategies are what help these organizations achieve their mission. talenTtrust equips nonprofit leaders with all this and more. Bringing together business and charity has always been my passion, and I look forward to doing so at talenTtrust,” says Richard.
To date, talenTtrust has worked with over 130 business leaders and partnered with enterprises such as HSBC, BBH, and Bloomberg to help local nonprofits develop their skills in order to bring tangible change to the lives of the most vulnerable in Singapore.
