4As reveals theme for Ad Summit Pilipinas 2018: DIY Your ROI

The biggest marketing and advertising event in the Philippines is coming back for a third offering. 

Instituted by the Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies of the Philippines (4As) in 2014, the Ad Summit Pilipinas is a biennial gathering of industry professionals to discuss the most critical topics that shape and disrupt marketing communication today. The conference is scheduled from March 7 to 10, 2018 at the Subic Bay Exhibition and Convention Center in Subic, Zambales.

With the theme “DIY Your ROI”, Ad Summit Pilipinas 2018 challenges current mindsets on the way marketing campaigns are being evaluated, and explores new ways of determining brand success beyond the financial return on investment. 

The event aims to examine ROIs through the lens of clever customisation, where a brand’s performance is measured against objectives that go beyond commercial success and cross over to such returns as brand love, behavioural change, social good, environmental impact, and pop culture influence. 

“Too often, we become obsessed wanting to know with certainty the additional business a marketing effort will bring to a company. We ask ourselves, how much will a campaign cost to execute, and what financial returns will I expect as a result? But is profit the only end goal of all marketing communication and brand activities? What if ROI could be redefined to mean a return on insight, or a return on intelligence, or a return on impact? I suspect this will be the most mind-opening Ad Summit yet,” said Norman Agatep, chair of Ad Summit Pilipinas 2018. 

The upcoming Ad Summit’s DIY theme is further visualized by its official imagery and motifs - construction toys assembled into any shape and structured by their respective visionaries. 

The designs reflect the same philosophy of a clever marketing practitioner who, armed with relevant insight, pieces together a campaign that creates a positive impact not only on sales, but also on many levels of social and cultural enlightenment. 

The event’s manifest video further shows campaigns done by some of the biggest brands in the country who have made returns not just or necessarily on investment but on impact, inspiration, innovation, and insight. It calls out for rethinking and redefining ROI. Watch it below:

As a convention tradition, Ad Summit Pilipinas will again be home to the Creative Guild’s Kidlat Awards, which is intended to establish “Kidlat” as the most prestigious advertising competition in the Philippines. The awards night will celebrate the country’s most creative and excellently-crafted campaigns, and will honour some of the industry’s enduring luminaries. 

Ad Summit Pilipinas will also showcase a trade exhibit that will feature cutting-edge business ideas and industry trends as well as state of the art technologies and equipment in a one-stop-shop marketplace.

“These are all in line with our mission to nurture a marketing communication environment that redefines creative excellence that’s in tune with an ever-restless and evolving industry,” Agatep added.
