MANILA – If you’re wondering how to be a good CEO, professor, and mother and still look fabulous, perhaps take a cue from Publicis Manila CEO Matec Villanueva, who continues to juggle all three roles with flair.

Villanueva is a testament to how living healthy can keep one on top of their game.

According to Villanueva, she works out six days a week, one to two hours a day.

“I do cardio all six days and do strength training three days of the week. I am in the gym at 6 a.m,” she shared.

Villanueva’s day starts at 4 a.m. when she prepares for her day and packs her lunch box.

On weekdays, she fulfills her CEO duties at Publicis Manila, and every Thursday teaches from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Ateneo de Manila John Gokongwei School of Management.

Villanueva shares that after work, she usually heads home.

“[I] have a light dinner of bowl of yogurt with almonds, a banana and chia seeds. And a night cap of red wine or ice cold beer or shot of whiskey or vodka on the rocks,” she said.

“I almost never go out at night to drink or dine with friends. I’d rather go home, wind down and chat with my sons. Spending two hours of watching my favorite shows of CSI, Law & Order, The Closer, Criminal Minds or Lie to Me is relaxing,” she continued.

Weekends are all about her sons, and sometimes her hobby, golf.

“I play (try…) golf on Saturdays,” she said. “Every Sunday morning, I take my sons out on a breakfast adventure.:

Her three sons are her top source of inspiration, shared Villanueva, along with her kids at work and at school.

“I balance my toxic work life by living it healthily, eating well, keeping active & teaching,” she said.
