SINGAPORE –A total of 39 entries were shortlisted for the 2015 Warc Prize for Asian Strategy.
The Prize, now in its fifth year, is free to enter and is open to brand owners and agencies in any discipline. Up for grabs is a $10,000 prize for the best strategy case studies from the region.
India takes the lion’s share with 21 entries. Singapore claimed four shortlist spots while and Hong Kong and the Philippines have three each.
Representing the Philippines is Ace Saatchi & Saatchi and J. Walter Thomson Manila, with the former accounting for two entries – Cebuana Lhuillier “Re-Meet” and PLDT Home DSL “Ask Diego.” J. Walter Thomson’s entry is “Taxation Responsibility: Use of shame and concern for the underdog to combat tax cheats” for the Philippines’ Bureau of Internal Revenue
Warc will award Gold, Silver and Bronze awards to the best examples of strategic thinking in marketing in four categories: East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia and Multimarket for campaigns running in three or more markets. The judging panel this year is chaired by BV Pradeep, Unilever’s global vice-president of consumer and market insight.
Warc received more than 130 entries from across the region coming from eight markets and from a mix of major networks and local independents, with budgets ranging from under US$500,000 to more than US$20 million.
The 2014 Grand Prix winner – ‘Kan Khajura Tesan’, a mobile phone service developed by from Lowe Lintas in Mumbai and PHD India – went on to be named the world’s best campaign in the annual Warc 100 rankings.
An additional five Special Awards of $1,000 each will also be given. The Warc Prize for Asian Strategy will be presented in Mumbai, India, on October 29.
“This shortlist shows the best of Asian strategy,” said David Tiltman, Warc’s Head of Content. “What struck me was the variety of work – from small but smart ideas to major brand-building work across multiple markets. What unites these entries is fresh thinking that delivers real results.”
Award-winning cases will be featured in the Asia Strategy Report, a study of smart strategic thinking in the region.
