Asia Pacific Advertising Festival (ADFEST) today announced an addition of a fifth director to the Fabulous Four line-up after carefully considering the industry’s request to give up-and-coming new directors in the region more opportunities. The objective of the Fabulous Four is to act as a platform for exposure and recognition of talented new directors in the region. After ADFEST announced the selection of the top four scorers few weeks ago, ADFEST has been receiving tremendous positive feedback from the industry. The working committee is also requested to expand the scope of this first-of-its-kind competition to give rising stars more opportunities. As a result, ADFEST is pleased to announce that Ms Marla Ancheta of Industria Productions in Manila is the fifth director, making the “Fabulous Four” session become “Fabulous Four +”.
The addition of a new director to join the competition is approved by the jury panel, which consists of Jury President David Tsui of Moviola Group in Hong Kong, Michael Ritchie of Revolver Film in Sydney, Nang Siddhingu of Film Factory in Bangkok, ET Cha of African Pictures in Seoul, Prasoon Pandey of Corcoise Films in Mumbai, Al Issac of SuperWonderful Films in Kuala Lumpur and Kazuyoshi Hayakawa of Camp Kaz Production Inc in Tokyo, of the inaugural New Director Lotus.
Although only 28, the Filipino Director has extensive experience in the production industry. With a degree in Film and Audiovisual Communication, Marla Ancheta got her first taste of production as a Live Sound Recordist and Editor before exploring the diverse buffet of production professions including Sound Designer, Still Photographer, Assistant Editor, Production Assistant, Production Designer, Producer, and the list goes on. She began her director career as a music video director before becoming a TVC Director she is today.
All of the five new directors will start to shoot their short films which must be between 3-5 minutes long. Their short films will be shown at the “Fabulous Four +” 2008 session moderated by ADFEST President Mr Jimmy Lam on Wednesday 26th at 11:00. The new directors will be on the stage during the session to talk about their short films and their ideas behind them.
