Dirty hands and soiled faces, silica sand and salty sweat invaded the manicured lawns of Boni High Street last weekend, as kids, architects and artists for the day competed in the Sanük Sandcastle Challenge.
Sanük, which means happiness in Thai, is the latest comfy footwear brand to hit the hip, young and fashionable. Made by surfers for surfers, born in the laid-back surfing paradise that is Southern California, Sanük has since expanded its product line to entice outdoor sports and adventure die-hards. And hippies in general.

“The brand has always been about summer fun on the beach, so now we bring the beach to the city,” said Vangie Chua-Brand Manager, describing the event. “It is a fun way to end summer and to start school,” she added. And for the winning team, it was Sanük, indeed.
