MARIKINA, PHILIPPINES– Marikina is one of the worst hit areas of Typhoon Ulysses (International name: Vamco) and among those affected are its shoe craftsmen and artisans. With this, local footwear collective, Stride, is calling for donations for its makers.
Stride Collective is accepting donations in kind as well as cash to help rebuild and repair the homes of Marikina residents. Relief operations has begun through the Bayong of Hope and it has raised 338,386 PHP as of writing.
As the restoration of livelihood will take time, the revival of Marikina’s shoe industry is put on hold while the lives and livelihoods of its residents are at stake.
