MANILA – The jury for the forthcoming adobo Design Awards Asia 2018 with the theme, “Design Solutions in a Connected World,” has been announced.
Each year, adobo Design Awards Asia searches for the best creative works across several different disciplines. The entrees will be judged by a hand-picked group of the most influential creative leaders from around the globe.
Indisputably one of the most awarded and renowned creatives in the advertising industry, Jureeporn Thaidumrong, Chief Creative Officer of GREYnJ United was named as this year’s Head of Jury. In almost 30 years of career journey, Thaidumrong has become one of the most influential figures to shape Thai advertising. Under her leadership, Results/O&M won Thailand’s first-ever Cannes Gold Lion in 2000, and Saatchi & Saatchi won Thailand’s first-ever D&AD Pencil in 2003.

Lim believes that creating work without an idea is a sin. This belief has earned him over 450 industry awards locally and abroad, including Singapore’s highest design accolade—the President’s Design Award in 2013 and 2015, Gold Pencils at the New York One Show, Cannes Lions and a Yellow Pencil at the 2016 D&AD.
Through his career, Pann has been invited to judge at numerous award shows from the Singapore Creative Circle Awards (The Gong Show), the Effie Awards, Malaysia Kancil Awards, Miami Clio Awards, Webby Awards and British D&AD Awards. In 2016, Pann had the honour of chairing The Gong Show.

Matutina is a graphic designer, illustrator, and co-founder of Plus63 Design Co. In 2013, he received the Art Directors Club Young Guns Award in New York.
At Plus63 Design Co., he develops graphic design identities and systems for brands. The studio experiments with new ideas, extending its scope to include prototyping furniture pieces or custom objects for memorable retail experiences, developing business strategies for brands, designing solutions for nonprofits, and taking on extensive projects such as rebranding a university’s athletic program.

Matute has established a career committed to the pursuit of innovation. She also has spearheaded programs that have been instrumental in transforming industries and have become international development templates, particularly in the areas of branding, design management, and creative economy.
Her key programs and projects include: Design Philippines; Transformations: Nature and Beyond in partnership with Material ConneXion in New York; Movement 8; Nurturing the Philippine Creative Economy; repositioning of Manila FAME; the Design Residency Program in partnership with British Council; Development Blueprint for the Establishment of the ASEAN – Japan Design Council under the ASEAN Japan Center. She has given talks and presentations in 4 countries and has work experience in 12.

Dy works as the Executive Creative Director at McCann Worldgroup Philippines, where he helps oversee one of the largest creative departments in the Philippines.
His work has consistently earned metals and recognition at Cannes, the Clio Awards, Spikes Asia, Asian AdFest, the New York Festivals, London International, the One Show, the AMEs, the Adobo Design Awards, the Araw Awards, the Kidlat Awards, and the APAC Effies.
Having previously worked at J. Walter Thompson, BBDO and Leo Burnett, Joe has picked up metal across all disciplines including TV, Print, Radio, Outdoor, Digital, Direct Marketing, Media, Integrated and Design.
Among the major brands he has worked on are Nestle, Coca-Cola, Johnson and Johnson, McDonald’s, Bayer, Unilever, Procter &Gamble, San Miguel, Kraft, Mondelez, Schick, Shell, HSBC, PRU Life, Ford, Pfizer and FedEx.
MERVIN MALONZO

Designer / Artist / Animator
Malonzo wrote and drew the National Book Award-winning comic Tabi Po. He also worked with writer Adam David on another title called Ang Supersibo, a comic adaptation of Jose Rizal’s Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo. He graduated magna cum laude in UP Fine Arts. When he is not creating comics, he is creating websites, animations, and illustrations for other people and entities.

Serrano is the founder of One Zero Design Co.—an architecture studio based in Escolta with a particular interest in creating designs that connect to a relevant context: may it be about the natural setting, heritage and history or the people it should serve.
The studio has gone on to bag awards in other contests, such as the Metrobank Art and Design Excellence 2015, the Clark Green City Conceptual Master Plan competition, and the Mixed-Income Housing competition by the BCDA Group with PAG-IBIG.

Architect Torres has a Post-Graduate Degree in Interior Design from the Queensland University of Technology and a Masters in Design and Art Education from the College of Fine Arts in University of New South Wales Sydney. He is presently the Director of the Center for Campus Art of the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde. In this capacity he produces and curates design and art exhibits.

Pascual is a graduate of Fine Arts major in Visual Communication from the University of the Philippines, Diliman and worked as an Art Director in Publicis Manila. Following her passion to be a comic creator, she has created a number of graphic novels and an active member of the local comics community. She’s best known as the creator of the National Book Awards and Madrigal-Gonzales Awards nominated graphic novel, Maktan 1521. Her ties with advertising still lives on as a freelance illustrator, art director and a storyboard artist for advertising and movie directors.

TeamManila Lifestyle is a graphic design studio from the Philippines and the brainchild of Jowee Alviar and Raymund Punzalan. Founded in 2001, TM has expanded to a team of 50 that continuously builds an impressive portfolio of award-winning works in graphic design and branding. Driven to push the design envelope further, TM is always on the look-out for collaborations with various creative entities on diverse design projects. Aside from organizing the annual Manila Design Week and regular participation on design talks, TM’s notable accomplishments range from the David Bowie International Outside Art competition in Paris to various publication features inside and outside the country.
The adobo Design Awards Asia 2018, an event to be presented by adobo magazine and co-presented by Jollibee, will champion the best designs and recognize the talents behind the work. Now on its ninth year, the competition is open to all professionals, freelancers, students, and amateurs.
