MANILA – In an intimate roundtable discussion with the press on Wednesday, ANC’s top management including COO Cilette Liboro-Co, News Production Head Nadia Trinidad, Business News Head Coco Alcuaz, and Head of Business and Operations Robert Pilares together with returning Kapamilya Anchor Cathy Yang laid out the network’s plans to beef up its business news offerings that are set to roll out in the coming months.

One of the initial announcements was the return of former ANC reporter Cathy Yang who will be hosting a new show Market Edge with Cathy Yang, and Business Nightly starting September 1st.

Yang brings with her an impressive portfolio of global experience in the business news industry after spending years with Reuters TV in Hong Kong, and Bloomberg Tokyo and Hong Kong.

The addition of Yang to ANC’s powerhouse roster of reporters and anchors is only a first of a series of hires by the network as they plan to focus on a wider range of business beats other than consumer, venturing deeper to automotive and real estate stories among others.

Apart from boosting its manpower, the network is also set to relaunch its morning grid in October which will soon include a morning show that would follow a business format. This program will be taking the 5:30 am time slot, airing simultaneously with ABS-CBN’s Umagang Kay Ganda, and will be airing from the network’s new studio in Rockwell.

Head of Integrated News and Current Affairs Ging Reyes said in a statement read by COO Cilette Liboro-Co, “To achieve becoming, and continue being the most trusted source of news content, our team of dedicated professionals both on camera and behind the scenes, constantly work to improve our news gathering and innovate in terms of delivery.”

All these efforts to fortify the Kapamilya news channel, according to Liboro-Co, are in part a response to the arrival of international news outlets, CNN and Bloomberg TV Philippines. But more importantly, these will pave the way for ANC’s plan to go regional and to continue to be a content-driven business channel serving the decision-makers and influencers in the country and in the region.
