ON July 16, the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) will team up with a handful of various organizations for the 36th National Children’s Book Day. Among these organizations is the Mulat Sulat 2018 Group, who will launch five new children’s books that tackle the rights of the LGBT community.

The book that will be launched during the event includes: Bukas na si Cajon by Jesh Alberto, illustrated by Gabbi Ramirez; One of the Boys by Arkin Frany, illustrated by Fides Balmaceda; Si Chowchow by Angelo P. Benavidez, illustrated by Aiko Shimizu; What’s my Power Gear? by Mondi Ruedas, illustrated by Ruthie Genuino; and Dumating na si Manang Elisa by Godfrey T. Dancel, illustrated by Gabbi Ramirez.

In addition to the launchings, excerpts from each book will be shared with the audience. Following the readings, a panel discussion with the book authors will be held and the floor will be opened for a Q&A session. The 90-minute session will both enlighten those on the freshest material in children’s literature, as well as encourage inclusivity and fairness within the community.
