MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Fundación Centro Flamenco is bringing the very first original Philippine full-length flamenco ballet to the RCBC Theatre on November 23-24 in the form of “La Luna Roja”, an enchanting story about sorcery, love, and a wicked curse born from a wicked act of love. The story unfolds in a small town in Southern Spain where a sorceress’ only son falls in love with a beautiful and captivating woman, and a couple in love cursed with the same shocking fate many years later.
The ballet is a project by the Fundación Centro Flamenco which aims to celebrate the historical bond between Spain and the Philippines by providing a center where the rich heritage from this vibrant relationship can be honed and developed through the arts. Created with the stunning choreography of Emma Estrada, and the direction of Leo Rialp, the “La Luna Roja” ensemble stars an all-Filipino cast, with guest artists from spain. It stars Javier Martos as “Jamil” in the forefront, with the likes of Tami Monsod, Angel Gomez, Nina Glorioso, Eda Calonia Bautista, Mercedes, and more completing the group. Some guest artists are also Alejandro Garcia as Singer, José Cortes in Percussion, Rubén Campos in Guitar.
