BBDO Guerrero and Pru Life UK bring the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight to Bantayan Island

MANILA — BBDO Guerrero has been appointed by the insurance giant, Pru Life UK to produce a campaign timed around the Pacquiao – Mayweather superfight this weekend, May 3.

The agency has produced a campaign which builds on Pru Life UK’s support of many of the areas affected at the end of 2013 by supertyphoon Yolanda (Haiyan) particularly the community on Bantayan Island, near Cebu.

“The interest around this sporting event is unprecedented and we are excited to work with Pru Life UK on this tremendous communication opportunity,” said David Guerrero, Creative Chairman of BBDO Guerrero.

Such is the huge level of interest in the upcoming Manny Pacquiao contest in Las Vegas that Pru Life UK decided to bring live viewing of the fight to those areas that are still unable to gain access to transmission across the Philippines, because of a lack of electricity.

In the campaign, we see the delighted audiences in Banatayan don the Pru’s iconic red bandanas emblazoned with the “Go Manny” slogan of encouragement. It also depicts how Pru Life UK brings hope and aspiration to the people of Bantayan Island.

“We are delighted to work with Pru Life UK on this meaningful project. Their genuine and whole-hearted commitment to the Philippines makes them a true pleasure to work with,” said Tony Harris, Chief Executive of BBDO Guerrero.

The campaign will be supported by a social media campaign asking people to upload their pictures wearing the bandana in support of Manny.

A TV commercial has been produced by Film Pabrika with Lyle Sacris as director. The campaign was created by Executive Creative Director, Dale Lopez and Creative Director, Rachel Teotico-Yulo.

Belle Tiongco, Chief Marketing Officer of Pru Life UK said, “We are all excited about the upcoming superfight for the “People’s Champ” but we are really inspired by the Filipino spirit of people who fight everyday like those in Bantayan in particular as they recover from Super Typhoon Yolanda. Our efforts to bring them the fight live will hopefully lift their spirits, connect them with the world and make their lives better. As the bandanas say, ‘GO MANNY!’”
