SUBIC – For the second consecutive year, BBDO Guerrero emerged as the top agency at the Kidlat Awards 2016 held at the Subic Bay Exhibition and Convention Center on March 12, the culmination of the Ad Summit Pilipinas 2016.
The agency won a total of 7 metals including the Grand Kidlat Award for the campaign, “Photo Fails” for the Department of Tourism which consequently won as the Advertiser of the Year.
This campaign called for the best photo fails taken in the Philippines in 2015. The prize was the opportunity to re-shoot their photo fails in paradise in 2016. This project was part of promoting 2016 as ‘Visit The Philippines Again Year’.
“The DOT campaign, ‘Photo Fail’, was the unanimous choice of the jury. Everybody talked about the smartness of the idea. It’s very witty in utilizing bad photos to sell the country. It had scale, it had a lot of user participation. It just speaks so well of creativity that it was able to utilize something and make it work for a product, in this case, the country,” shared Raoul Panes, Jury President, Kidlat Awards 2016.
“It’s one tourism campaign that the country can be proud of. It’s difficult to make tourism campaigns anywhere in the world. And the DOT campaigns in recent years has been showing that Pinoys can be creative in selling their own country. This campaign is a testament to that,” he added.
