Before the reviews, four speakers from the local design industry also shared their knowledge on their areas of expertise.

TBWA\SMP associate creative director John Ed de Vera opened the event with a talk on art direction.

He was then followed by graffitti artist, illustrator, and designer Quiccs, who spoke toy design.

“I am able to express my skills all in one project,” Quiccs said, explaining that he enjoys toy design because it is a “melting pot” of different practices such as character design, sculpting, digital, and packaging design.

Visual artist Januz Miralles followed with a talk on photography, sharing his experiments in combining photography and painting techniques, and collaborating with New York-based Fashion photographer Tomaas.

“Walang direksyon minsan yung ginagawa ko,” Miralles shared

Animation studio Acid House rounded out the talks as they spoke about motion graphics, sharing their design process for their work on Graphika Manila’s opening titles.

The reviews commenced after the talks, with participants and reviewers breaking into three groups: Graphic Design, Illustration, and Photography.

At the end of the review session, one participant per category was awarded with the Behance Appreciation Coin: Borg Sinaban for Illustration, Terence Eduarte for Graphic Design, and Dennese Victoria for Photography.

The Behance Portfolio Reviews in Manila is one of a series of reviews held across the world. The portfolio review was organized by Bloom Arts Festival and Behance Philippines led by TBWA\SMP senior designer and art director Tof Zapanta in cooperation with Co.lab Xchange where the event was held.
