MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Kat Fanio, a 23 year-old business graduate from the University of the Philippines, is one of the Asia Pacific Graduates who has been hooked on content creation and has been exploring this passion during her stints as a graduate for AB HEINEKEN Philippines. She developed her knack for creatives in college and brewed it more during one of her first projects as the Employer Brand Lead in Human Resources.
Kat applied in the program after briefly working with a homegrown lifestyle app, as its Partnerships and Campaign Manager. She later found herself discovering her what-ifs in Human Resources and rolling the dice with Heineken’s Asia Pacific Graduate Program. Since then, she has been going on adventures and filming her exciting experiences at DB Breweries in New Zealand, where she got assigned before COVID-19 hit Asia Pacific.
“Adjusting wasn’t easy at first because I was only one of the three Filipinos in DB. And despite New Zealand being one of the most welcoming places to be in, that longing for Pinoy humor and warmth continued to fill my heart. And when the pandemic hit, I was forced to work at home like everyone else – giving me the chance to pursue that creative passion while on isolation,” according to Kat.
She did not feel the pressure and challenge for long because her colleagues at Heineken never failed to provide her with mentorship and guidance throughout the program. Experiencing an agile work setup allowed her to quench her thirst for learning. And getting to work on exciting projects during her assignments in Philippines and New Zealand gave her the courage to blaze through the program.
Kat is one of five Asia Pacific graduates here in the Philippines, along with three more Filipinos who have already completed the program. Being part of the program has given Kat exciting experiences and opportunities to develop herself and brew her career.
She said, “Being an Asia Pacific Graduate absolutely gave me better possibilities to grow as a professional and young leader in the region. Right now, I’m at an accelerated path where I look forward to continue experiencing other functions in Heineken across other APAC countries next year.” She also encourages young talents to apply for the program themselves and she looks forward to meeting the next batch of Asia Pacific Graduates.
Heineken Asia Pacific is again opening its doors to fresh graduates and early careers from the Philippines and across the Asia Pacific Region for the Asia Pacific Graduate Program class of 2021. The application opens this September 28 to October 27, 2020 for young bright minds who are interested in going on a 2-year program that includes exposure and training across different functions in the region.
