SINGAPORE – Among the Philippine winners in the recently concluded Spikes Asia Festival of Creativity, BBDO Guerrero’s campaign for Pru Life UK, ‘Island’ is something we could consider the rookie in the festival game. This is the first metal win for the campaign but it most possibly won’t be the last.

Launched in May 2015, ‘Island’ is a film, produced by Film Paprika, that featured a story about the survivors of Typhoon Yolanda in Bantayan Island in Cebu, one of the most badly hit areas in the country, and also the biggest supporters of Pambansang Kamao, Manny Pacquiao.

Since the island is still recovering from the devastation by the supertyphoon, a large part of the area didn’t have electric supply. Without electricity, there was no way that the residents could watch the then historic fight between Pacquiao and American boxer, Floyd Mayweather, Jr.

The film was a call to ask people for support so Pru Life UK could bring the fight to the people of the island. As more and more people shared the film, enough to reach the Pinoy boxing champ himself, the residents of Bantayan Island were able to watch what was dubbed as the fight of the century–a simple gift for the most resilient and hopeful citizens of the nation.
