Posterscope, Dentsu launches live billboards for Skype Qik

MANILA – Digital billboards, or any kind of outdoor media, is a space reserved mostly for celebrities but this new OOH campaign by Skype Qik lets its users get the rare chance to light up the skyline.

Together with sister agency Dentsu Philippines, Posterscope set up a kiosk at Robinsons Galleria last week to invite mall goers to pose for the cameras – in this case just a mobile camera – to capture a short clip of them.

Stand-out videos are then displayed on two huge LED billboards along EDSA, the busiest thoroughfare in the country, at Robinsons Galleria and Shaw Boulevard.

Seeing yourself with your buddies or workmates go crazy on a billboard in the middle of Manila’s major artery sure is memorable and that’s exactly what Skype Qik wants.

Still in its infancy here in a market dominated by text, Qik aims to introduce the concept of video massaging to the masses. And it appears going outdoor is a commendable choice – considering that most commuters are often times stuck along EDSA with a mobile phone in hand.

Last month, adobo broke the news that Dentsu Philippines won creative ad duties for the launch of Skype Qik, following a five-way pitch with unnamed agencies.
