MANILA – The Commission on Elections has cancelled the media accreditation of ABS-CBN-owned radio station dzMM on grounds of alleged violation of coverage rules during the filing of certificates of candidacy Tuesday.
However, Comelec spokesman James Jimenez said that dzMM may apply again for accreditation in light of the significance of the upcoming elections.
GMA News online broke the news, citing that Jimenez made the announcement about the revocation before members of the media yesterday at Intramuros, Manila.
On the hot seat was DzMM representative Charauz Parra, who apologized for interviewing Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who filed his certificate of candidacy for vice president, outside the designated area.
According to Comelec rules, interviews with candidates may only be done at two designated media areas at the end of the ground floor and outside the Palacio del Gobernador.
