Creativefest 2019: Fernando Machado, the Creative Marketer who’s Fearless in Taking Risks

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — “I believe brands can do more than just sell stuff. Selling whoppers is great and it keeps the business running but we are trying to build a brand that’s inclusive, that puts the crown on everyone’s head, that lends itself in pop culture.”
 
These are the words of Fernando Machado on the purpose of his brand. His skill in creative marketing and a knack for pop culture is the reason why the iconic Burger King whopper ad trolled the internet. 
 

While Machado understands the purpose of Burger King as fast-food brand, he refuses to conform to the standards of creative marketing. Creating a balance between creativity, technology, and community engagement is important—but being ambitious in these standards have always played a part to his brand’s worldwide recognition.

Another factor that Machado considers in creativity is taking risks. In an interview with Forbes, he said that he believes that the biggest risk is not taking any risk at all which explains the ability of his mind-blowing campaigns that continue to make headlines.
