MANILA, PHILIPPINES – The Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival, now on its 16th year, takes its platform to the e-community for the first time by partnering with online streaming media KUMU and The Filipino Channel (TFC) to widen its audience reach.
Cinemalaya will be streamed online on Vimeo on August 7 to 16, 2020 and will culminate with the Cinemalaya Awards Night, set on August 16 on the KUMU platform.
KUMU is a Filipino-centric social app that powers the online culture of Filipinos by helping it reach worldwide audiences. KUMU unites Filipinos in its online community by partnering with other Filipino-centric organizations and initiatives. The said app can be downloaded for free at Google Play or the App Store.
With the theme “Stream Consciousness”, Cinemalaya showcases the following ten competing films in the Short Film Feature category:

- Ang Pagpakalma sa Unos (To Calm the Pig Inside) by Joanna Vasquez Arong

- Living Things by Martika Ramirez Escobar
- Pabasa Kan Pasyon by Hubert Tibi
- Quing Lalam ning Aldo (Under the Sun) by Reeden Fajardo
- The Slums by Jan Andrei Cobey
- Tokwifi by Carla Pulido Ocampo
