According to the Philippine Statistics Authority in 2014, one out of ten Filipino women at the age of 15 to 19 has begun childbearing. In an attempt to encourage sexual abstinence among the teenage population of the Philippines, the Department of Health released a video, posted online.

The video shows cheering squads dancing to the tune of a ditty that opens with: “Gaga Girl. Bobo Boy. Pag kita-kits kita, sabi ng puso ko Boom Boom Boom, Ahaaaay.”

The song goes on to urge the youth to finish school before having sex: “Maghunos dili ka dahil bata ka pa, magtapos ka muna, maghintay ka muna,” with the implication that it is stupid to do otherwise.

If the goal was to turn the teens off from having sex, the video is on its way to breaking the internet!

According to the website When in Manila, the DOH posted the video but took it down.

The video has been receiving criticism online, with people bashing the video’s lyrics, and calling it a rip-off of a K-Pop song.
