MANILA – Christmas comes early for Eraserheads fans as Esquire Philippines brings new music from the seminal group. Following a series of teasers, Esquire announced on August 31 that their Travel Issue will include a CD of the latest Eraserheads recording, with ‘Sabado’ and ‘1995’, the band’s first new singles in 13 years.
The issue also includes Editor-in-Chief Erwin Romulo’s account of the Eraserheads’ London tour, the most recent attendance record-breaking reunion concert from the iconic group. Also in the issue is ‘Sabado 1995′, a short story by Luis Katigbak inspired by the two new songs. The cover, photographed by Jake Verzosa and designed by Ces Olondriz, shows the band crossing Abbey Road, recreating The Beatles’ 11th studio album released in 1969.
Esquire said the soon-to-be-available Travel issue with the Eraserheads’ latest recording will be sold at P400 for the print edition and at $3.99 for the digital edition. The new Eraserheads songs are available for streaming within Esquire’s September issue for the whole month of September only when purchased via the Buqo app (for iOS and Android devices) or the Esquire Newsstand App (for iOS only). The songs will be removed from the September issue after September 30, 2014.
Eraserheads was formed by Ely Buendia, Raimund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala and Marcus Adoro in 1989 at the University of the Philippines. The band went on to produce several hits such as ‘Pare Ko’, ‘Alapaap’, ‘With a Smile’, and ‘Ang Huling El Bimbo’, music which remains a favorite on fans’ playlists, even after the band’s 2002 break-up.
