MANILA – After opening offices in Southeast Asia, Facebook has finally launched its headquarters in Manila on Thursday during a press launch at Shooting Gallery Studios.
Digs Dimagiba, former mobile business director for Samsung Philippines, was appointed by Facebook as the Philippine country manager. Dimagiba will lead the local business team that will partner closely with businesses and agencies to help them get more value out of Facebook’s solutions.
“The Philippines is a country that has seen tremendous growth in connectivity in recent years, creating one of the world’s most highly engaged online populations. Filipinos on Facebook have 60% more friends than global average and send 30% more messages when compared globally. I’m excited to lead the dynamic Facebook team in Manila, and to help our partners to innovate and achieve their goals,” said Dimagiba.
According to Dan Neary, Vice President, Asia-Pacific of Facebook, there are more mobile devices in the Philippines than there are people. Moreover, Filipinos spend their time on mobile 50% more than the global average.
Facebook is seeing strong momentum in the Philippines with more than 49 million people on Facebook–44 million accessing the social networking site on their mobiles.
“Philippines is a market that we care about,” shared Neary.
