The inaugural YouTube Ads Awards Philippines will finally reveal its first-ever set of winners on May 10, 2018! A total of 57 finalists are vying for the distinction of winning the first YouTube Ads Awards.
The Philippines is one of the first markets to introduce the awards program, which was created to honor the best storytelling in YouTube ads in the country.
With the rise of digital media, capturing the audience’s attention has become more challenging as attention spans have decreased while content options have multiplied and diversified. This presents an opportunity for brands, agencies, and content creators to tell more creative and authentic brand stories that the Filipino audience will choose to watch. The YouTube Ads Awards honors those who create the best ads among industries and among ad formats.
The program includes 17 categories, 10 of which are industry-focused, six are focused on the use of storytelling and ad formats, while the last category looks at effectiveness based on business results.
In its first-ever edition, the program was able to attract more than 500 entries across the 17 categories.
Video entries were judged based on content, engagement, effectiveness, and campaign results. Some questions that entries would have to answer are: does the ad have a strong story? Does the first five seconds have a strong hook? Does it make the best use of both visuals and sound to tell the story? Does it surprise and excite? Does it compel the audience to share or talk about it?
A panel of six judges composed of leading figures in the advertising, marketing, and content creation fields were called in to select the first awardees. Jury Chair Leigh Reyes, President and Chief Creative Officer of MullenLowe Philippines led the panel composed of Dennis Perez, Co-Chair of the Digital Measurement of the Philippines and Unilever Philippines Head of Media; Candice Iyog, Vice President for Marketing and Distribution of Cebu Pacific Air; Joe Dy, Executive Creative Director of McCann Worldgroup Philippines; Mikey Bustos, YouTube creator; and Lourd de Veyra, TV & radio host and musician.
After a rigorous and highly competitive judging process, the jury has selected just 57 finalists that will be in the running for awards. The awardees will be announced during the Awards ceremony.
