TV5 revives–and rewrites–P.S I Love You for primetime

PHILIPPINES, NOVEMBER 21, 2011: A local love story that charmed fans in the 80s through the silver screen has transmigrated into the boob tube after almost three decades. “PS I Love You” has successfully debuted as TV5’s newest drama series starting today.

2011’s PS I love You is a sequel to the original movie, which starred then real-life couple Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion who played the film’s Kristine and Mark. In a twist of cinematic fate, the current TV series veers away from the suggested happy ending of the original script. Concepcion relives his roles as Mark, but Kristine is now played by another actress from the same era, Dina Bonnevie. Both also play the role of middle-aged protagonists whose lives once again intertwine through their children’s lives.

PS I love You is the latest addition to a string of hit-and-miss, high-profile revivals from the country’s third largest TV network. These include comedy series Iskul Bukol and the the teeny-bopper story Bagets.
