MANILA – The aristocratic ring of Lady San Pedro’s name may make it more memorable, but there are undoubtedly more reasons to remember it for – not least of which are the works of art that are often attached to it.

On a whole, the Barcelona-based designer’s style may be described as clean and elegant, with colors and lines that do not scream for attention, but compel one to look anyway – a style evident not only in her illustrations and design work, but also in her photography, writing, and even her wardrobe choices.

It is with San Pedro’s signature subtle but striking style that she snapped up a silver award at last year’s adobo Design Awards for ‘Facades,’ a series of illustrations for Paseo de Gracia magazine. The series of animated gif illustrations depicts window scenes of iconic buildings along Barcelona’s Passeig de Gracia.

It is with the same aesthetic that San Pedro created the Flutterby shoe, a red pump with a unique butterfly heel, which won first place in the Alberto Guardiani x I-D Magazine International Shoe Design Competition. The shoe was launched in Milan Fashion Week, featured on the websites of high-fashion bibles Vogue Italia and Vanity Fair, and has since been expanded into a permanent line by shoe brand Alberto Guardiani.

Before that, the designer, illustrator, and writer has been quietly collecting awards over the years during her stints at  ad agencies TBWA\ SMP, and what was then McCann Erickson Philippines.

This year, the aDA winner jumps to the other side, this time as a member of the jury.
