MANILA – Globe Telecom teams up with the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) to launch its newest campaign, Visit the Philippines Year 2015. Chief Operating Officer of TPB, Mr. Domingo Ramon Enerio III sees the partnership with Globe as a privilege to endeavor the country as a top tourist destination in Asia.
“Visit the Philippines Year 2015 aims to excite and encourage local and international visitors to actively participate in the year-long calendar of tourism activities that we have in the pipeline,” he said.
He explained how the Philippines has evolved into a tourist hub over the past few years. In 2014, we have already reached 4.8M arrivals internationally and currently on their way to reaching 5.5M visitors overseas coming to the Philippines by the end of 2015 – a first in the tourism statistics history. Because of these growing numbers, revenue for the Philippines is going through the roof as well. This major development in the tourism sector opens a lot of opportunity for employment in the servicing industry.
“All of this is because Filipinos has supported the campaign [It’s more fun in the Philippines]. For such a long time we’ve been unable to compete with our neighboring countries, but now many people are taking the responsibility to promote our country,” Enerio II said.
At the rate of growth the international visitors and overseas workers are going, Globe, TPB’s first Philippine telco partner to offer affordable communication, partnered with TPB to kick start its Visit the Philippines Year 2015 campaign by giving away their Globe Traveler SIM for free.
“We are happy to be the first telco partner of the Tourism Promotions Board in their thrust to make the Philippines the ultimate destination hub for tourists worldwide. Offering free SIMs is our way of helping travelers further enjoy their stay by enabling easy, affordable and hassle-free communications,” says Globe SVP for International Business Rizza Maniego-Eala.
Eala acknowledges the importance of staying connected for travelers and overseas workers. The Traveler SIM offers usage of mobile data, calls and SMS.
Starting July 30, Globe Traveler SIMs will be given away for free at any of the Globe booths located at NAIA, Cebu, Davao, Kalibo, Iloilo and Clark International Airport. Tourists and OFWs will simply have to present their non-Philippine passport, foreign resident card, Seaman’s book or OFW E-card to claim their free SIM. The free SIM is until December 31, 2015.
