TAGUIG CITY – On a night when the members of the Internet and Mobile Marketing Association of the Philippines (IMMAP) swore in its officers and Board of Directors for 2017, the organization also bared their plans for the immediate future. After the rousing success that was the first ever DigiCon last October, IMMAP was proud to announce how far it has come in 10 years of existence, even as several other announcements were made for its first General Membership Meeting of the year.

IMMAP president Margot Torres gave the opening remarks that reminded everyone how IMMMAP began with a mere 12 members a decade ago. She was followed onstage by Sen. Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino IV, who thanked IMMAP for being one of the organizations that have helped address growing concerns as the entire country embraces the move to digital.

Following the actual swearing in ceremony of the IMMAP Officers and Board of Directors, IMMAP vice-president Ed Mapa presented IMMAP’s calendar of activities and plans for 2017. This includes making DigiCon an annual rather than bi-annual event, this year’s theme of “The Culture of Digital Transformation,” and to simulcast some of the talks in both Manila and Cebu.

IMMAP director Ken Lingan examined how the association’s membership has steadily grown, what the plans are to grow the membership further while engaging these members in 2017, as well as how to increase renewal of IMMAP membership.

The final speaker of the evening was PLDT vice-president Digital Marketing Strategy for PLDT Enterprise and International Carrier Business (EICB) and IMMAP external vice-president Carlo Ople. Fresh from a trip to Silicon Valley in California, the digital guru shared some of his thoughts and insights into what he learned on the trip, as well as what he thinks the Philippines can look forward to as far as digital trends in the immediate future.

All-in-all, it was a low-key yet fun night for the association as members who may not have seen in each other in some time reconnected while perusing what the IMMAP’s goals are for its 11th year and beyond.

The incoming officers and Board of Directors for IMMAP 2017 are Margot Torres (president), Ed Mapa Jr. (vice-president), Golda Roldan (corporate secretary) Hans Eric Roxas-Chua (treasurer), Carlo Ople (vice-president-external) and directors Digs Dimagiba, Ken Lingan, Brian Cu, Rudy Villar, Mike Constantino, Issa Tobias, Leigh Reyes, Karen Alba-Alday, Jeff Saez, and Dennis Perez
