Katha Awards names winners at 2014 Manila FAME

MANILA – Six works were recognized as among the best in design for export excellence at the Katha Awards, held on the opening day of the recently concluded 60th Manila FAME.

Ito Kish of Kish Design Hub won Best Product Design for Furniture for his work ‘B-Luxe’.

Meanwhile, Industria’s Jude Tiotuico won Best Product Design for Home Decor for ‘Flutty Candy Light.’

Tessa Nepomuceno of Tixxi Handbags won in Best Product Design for Fashion for ‘Calli-Ideal Design’. 

Paper Finials by Arlene Gaddi-Maceda and Arthur Gaddi of Paper Capers won in Best Product Design for Holiday, Decor, and Gifts.

Schema won for Best Booth Display.

At the same time, Wataru Sakuma of MASAECO received a special citation, the Eco-Design Award, for ‘Crystal Clock’.

The Katha Awards recognizes Philippine product design innovation and excellence, with the goal to give distinction to ingenious design and encourage exporters to raise their design standards for Philippine export products, as well as to pursue a skillful exploration of new materials or processes.
