MANILA – KFC campaigns are often colorful and fun. And partly because of its upbeat tagline, So Good,” its work has not been often remembered as inspirational.
But the fast food brand recently moved into emotional advertising by launching short films honoring two working students with KFC, Ellenor and Riezel, who amidst their circumstances, worked hard to continue their studies and graduate with academic recognition.
Made by Ogilvy One, the spot ends by tugging at heartstrings, surprising the heroes of the film with a teary surprise party with their loved ones. KFC adds that they are among 200 students working for them who will be graduating this year.
The two spots were uploaded on Youtube and got mixed reviews, however. One commenter writes “I tried very hard to hold back tears” while detractors were critical about the graduation treat, saying “Thats it?!! KFC gave her a half assed grad party with the food she’s probably sick of eating everyday?”
