LONDON – Almost a year after Typhoon Haiyan ravaged the Philippines, Filipino professionals in London are hosting ‘The Calm AFTER the Storm,’ a fundraising event for the benefit of Haiyan survivors.

The event, which will be held at London’s Savoy Hotel on October 17, will include a multi-course gourmet dinner by two of London’s most prominent chefs: Savoy executive chef James Pare, and BBC Food Personality of the Year Cyrus Todiwala, OBE.

The program also includes a silent and live auction, as well as performances from Filipino musicians such as singer-songwriter Kate Torralba, and pianist Regina Montesclaros.

The event was organized by London-based Filipino professionals on behalf of the WONDER Foundation, a United Kingdom registered charity. Proceeds from the event will benefit WONDER Foundation’s local partner charity, the Cebu-based BANILAD Centre for Professional Development, which, apart from their Haiyan relief efforts, also provides hospitality training to young women at high risk of domestic servitude, sex work, and early marriage.

Guests can join the event with a minimum donation of GBP 120, while those who will not be able to attend may still donate any amount. Seats are limited, so interested parties are encouraged to donate early.

The event was organized in cooperation with Ayala Land and wine donor Les Vignobles Foncalieu, with the support of private patrons.

Auction donors include Rajo Laurel, Costa Pacifica, Van Cleef & Arpels, Balesin Island Club, Cirkulo, Lally Dizon, Cebu Pacific Air, and The Adobros.
