MANILA – Celebrating their 35th year in the children’s book publishing industry, “Alterno” by Adarna House features the reimagined artworks of beloved children’s book covers. Titles like “Papel de Liha”, “Filemon Mamon”, “Isang Mayang Uhaw”, “Putot”, “Ang Pambihirang Sombrero” and “Mr. Beetle’s Many Rooms” were given a fresh look by different artists from Ilustrador ng Kabataan (InK) such as Liza Flores, Bru Sim Nada, Marcus Nada, Pergy Acuña, Rommel Joson, Beth Parrocha, Angela Taguiang, Leo Kempis Ang, Aaron Asis and James Abalos.

“Alterno” means “stand-in” and it’s an imaginative take, prompting flights of fancy on what the alternative art could become inside the book itself. The exhibit is ongoing until July 3 at the fourth floor of the East Wing of Shangri-la Plaza Mall, but postcards of all 35 alternate covers (at five sets of seven postcards each) will be available at Adarna House. To find out more about Alterno, contact Adarna House via (02) 3526765 local 118, or email adarnahouse@adarna.com.ph
