MANILA – Freelancing portal Raket.ph has launched a pioneering school to help interested Filipinos get a head start in freelancing.
Called “RaketOne”, it is the country’s first freelancing school opened in partnership with The One School, an entrepreneurial college in Makati accredited by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
Scheduled to go live on July 31, it will be offering workshops for two weeks on 11 topics, mostly on jobs frequently taken by freelancers like marketing, photography, and graphic design. Each workshop costs P1,500 and is divided to two three-hour sessions.
Among the mentors RaketOne invited over are Rock Ed Philippines’ Gang Badoy Capati for Writing 101, AVA.ph’s Oliver Segovia for Marketing 10 and Team Manila’s Jowee Alviar for Graphic Design 101.
Later on, Raket.ph founder and CEO Lyle Jover plan to add more advanced “102s” and “103s” courses and even certification that can help beef up resumes.
Unique to RaketOne are the shadowing and immersion sessions like in its event management course where students will have a real-life hands-on experience by linking them up with professionals.
In addition to schooling, RaketOne also wants to build a community. Experienced professionals are invited to share what they have gone through in the past years, and to show how they got things done in their own way – allowing newbies to get their bearings faster.
The best part? With 13,280 “Raketeers” and clients on board Raket.ph’s directory, RaketOne can also offer not just much-needed guidance and instruction but also help students land jobs.
