MANILA – Leading local production house Unitel Productions and broadcasting and media production company Straight Shooters Media Inc. have announced that their president, Madonna Tarrayo, is assuming new duties as she also becomes Chief Executive Officer.
In an adobo magazine exclusive, Tarrayo shares that, “For the company, it means that a single vision is now achieved and an even more united and stronger Unitel/Straight Shooters faces the industry. Our integration started in 2012, and every year since, slowly but surely, we have been blurring lines between the two divisions by exposing everyone to varied platforms and businesses. It also means breaking down barriers and learning and re-learning new concepts and ideas every single day. This time, I can say that we have merged all the good attributes of both companies.”
Reflecting on her appointment, Tarrayo adds, “I am truly humbled by the trust and confidence that our chairman, Mr. Tony Gloria, and the board of directors, our managers, employees, and partners in the industry have given me. As I’ve been saying, being tasked to build Straight Shooters has been very fulfilling and I could have just retired with that as the highlight of my 23 years in the business, so being a CEO is a new high for my entire career.”
“I do hope to continue to serve the company with both heart and mind in the right place,” she continues. “I am really just as good as the people I lead and have learned from. For that, I am thankful and grateful. With them, life has more purpose.”
Asked how her role changes with her new title, Tarrayo says, “I will now take the lead in creating the vision for the company and making sure it happens. I have also been tasked to strengthen the new businesses and ensuring that current businesses are sustained and remain stable. The Management Committee is now more empowered to run the day-to-day operations of the company in their respective departments. I am very lucky to have exceptional leaders in the company.”
As for where she sees Unitel and Straight Shooters Media going in the immediate future, Tarrayo turns reflective. “We live in a world where opportunities and challenges share equal billing. What is important is to turn every challenge into an opportunity that shall always be beneficial for the company and its people,” she points out. “The foundation of Unitel/Straight Shooters as a multimedia company has long been established. The challenge now is to build and strengthen it to withstand all kinds of weather – from stormy to sunny. Productive and progressive partnerships and collaborations shall be instrumental in making our dreams come true.”
