MANILA – McDonald’s Philippines President and Chief Executive Officer Kenneth Yang has announced that Margot Torres has been promoted to Managing Director. Torres has been McDonald’s Executive Vice-President and Deputy Managing Director since October 2015.

In a statement to McDonald’s Philippines employees, Yang stated that, “In 2003, Margot joined McDonald’s as Vice President of Marketing & Communications. During her years as the head of Marketing, she consistently drove the company’s top line sales with the strategic focus on value, service, and convenience all whilst deepening the connection of Filipino consumers with the brand through memorable and iconic campaigns which have become part of local popular culture.”

“A digital champion, it was Margot that ushered the company into the digital age–from social media to eCommerce via McDelivery and its access points,” Yang added. Torres is a two-time president of the Internet and Mobile Marketing Association of the Philippines (IMMAP) and remains on the IMMAP Board of Trustees.

During her leadership, IMMAP grew in renown and respect, going beyond the local communications industry, reaching the business sector, the startup economy, the academe, and the national government. IMMAP became progressive in its committees, producing projects that reached success and sustainability. Notably, IMMAP launched an advocacy on cyber safety for children with the Department of Education. IMMAP sent the first team to represent the Philippines to compete in the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity.

During Torres’ term, IMMAP achieved financial stability, growing in revenue. This growth has proven beneficial to its over 200 members, with the association delivering more services and learning sessions. Today, IMMAP is respected to be the source of everything internet and mobile.

A graduate of the Ateneo de Manila in 1987, Torres entered and specialized in the field of Marketing. She devoted her career to building brands in different industries from FMCG (Unilever), pharmaceuticals (Wyeth), and telecommunications (Pocketbell, Edsamail, Smart).

“In her role as EVP & DMD, she began future proofing the organization by establishing a culture framework and continued to champion the digital transformation of the organization,” Yang’s statement continued. “For the past two years, she has strengthened and aligned work processes across the many departments of the Customer Experience Group, which includes Strategy & Insights, Marketing, Menu, LSM, Corporate Communications, Customer Care, Operations, Field Service, Franchising, RSG, IT, and SCM.”

“With her many and notable achievements coupled with her passion, strategic acumen and foresight for ‘what’s next,’ I am confident that Margot will lead the company in winning in the new economy–the experience economy,” Yang added. “I ask that you give her all-out support as she takes on this leadership role. Please join me in congratulating Margot as well as Jet, her husband, and Diego and Isabel, her children and wishing her success. Congratulations Margot!”

Torres’ promotion is effective July 1, 2018.
