MANILA – With a focus on copy, this year’s adobo LIA contest brought together some of the industry’s best copywriters to judge the entries and determine who will be flying to Las Vegas for the London International Awards.
The winners of the adobo LIA Copywriting Contest for Young Creatives will take part in the London International Awards’ Creative Conversations program, which promises ‘a week of educational and enriching seminars, lunches and dinners filled with stimulating discussions centered on the experiences and ideas of the speakers in their respective fields.’
The winners will be selected from over 60 entries this year.
The jury is headed by Leigh Reyes, president and chief creative officer of Lowe Philippines. Reyes’ work has been recognized in several shows such as Cannes Lions, Clio, D&AD, Asia-Pacific Adfest, the Asian Marketing Effectiveness Awards, and the Tambuli Awards.

Teeny Gonzales
CEO at Seven A.D.
Gonzales, who launched the independent agency Seven A.D., is well-known for her ear for language, giving her the ability to pick out catchphrases on the cusp of mainstream and turn them into popular taglines. Among her more famous campaigns are Royal Tru Orange “Ito ang gusto ko”, McDonald’s “Burger, burger” and Ako Mismo.
Before launching Seven A.D. in 2009, Gonzales was ECD at DDB and Harrison Communications. She first gained prominence as creative director at McCann Erickson.
Joey Tiempo
creative director at TBWA\Santiago Mangada Puno
A Fine Arts graduate, Tiempo ended up as a copywriter, her work gaining recognition at shows such as AdFest, Spikes Asia, One Show, AWARD Award, Clio and LIAA. She is also the winner of the Philippines’ first Webby.
Tiempo has worked with J. Romero & Associates, Adformatix-Hakuhodo, Jimenez-Basic Advertising and Y&R Philippines. She has served on juries for AdFest and the New York Festival International Advertising Awards.
Richmond Walker
group creative director at Ogilvy Manila
Walker is creative lead across all disciplines including Ogilvy Advertising, Ogilvy One, Ogilvy Action, and Red Works.
He has also worked as ECD at BBDO Proximity Malaysia, and began as senior copywriter at Lowe and Partners Worldwide.
David Guerrero
BBDO Guerrero
Chairman and CCO of BBDO Guerrero, he is known for successful campaigns such as the “It’s More Fun In The Philippines” tourism campaign and the #unselfie campaign in response to Typhoon Haiyan.
He was named the first Cannes Advertising Festival Jury Chair from South East Asia and has been called to judge at Cannes on numerous occasions.
Guerrero also won the country’s first press Grand Prix at London International, Golds at Cannes and Clio and Silvers, Bronzes and in-book work at One Show and D&AD. The agency was ranked as one of the Top 50 agencies in the world in 2013.
Chris Martinez
director and scriptwriter
Martinez is the director of Here Comes the Bride, 100, and Bakas, and scriptwriter of Here Comes the Bride, 100, Caregiver, Sukob, Bikini Open, and Bridal Shower.
His awards include the 2008 Pusan Film Festival Audience Award and 2008 Cinemalaya Awards for Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Audience Choice Award for 100, the CCP Award for Alternative Filmmaking for Bakas, and the NCCA Grand Prize for “Ars Poetica”, co-written with Eugene Evasco
A winner of the Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature, Martinez is the author of the books Laugh Trip and Last Order sa Penguin.
