MANILA, PHILIPPINES — TikTok, the world’s go-to platform for short-form video creativity, is turning the volume up on safety and digital wellness. With a fresh rollout of four new features, the platform is sharpening its tools to support parents, champion balanced screen habits, and help teens thrive both online and offline.
The latest updates to Family Pairing, TikTok’s parental control suite, are a bold step toward nurturing healthier digital ecosystems at home while giving teens the space to grow responsibly in today’s hyper-connected world.

Every family is unique and TikTok’s new Time Away feature puts that truth front and center. Whether it’s family dinner, school hours, or a digital detox weekend, caregivers can now set personalized time-off windows tailored to their household’s needs. Schedules can be recurring, and if teens want extra time? A parent’s passcode call is still the final say.
Digital parenting just got a clearer view with follower visibility. With the updated Family Pairing dashboard, parents can now see who their teen follows, who follows them back, and even which accounts have been blocked. It’s a transparency boost designed to spark better conversations about online relationships and digital literacy.
Soon, when teens report content that violates TikTok’s guidelines, they’ll have the option to alert a trusted adult – even outside Family Pairing. It’s a subtle but powerful way to keep lines of communication open between teens and the people who guide them.

TikTok’s dedicated STEM feed is now live in over 100 countries, including the Philippines. Millions of teens worldwide are tuning in weekly, and parents can even re-enable the feed if their teen turns it off.
The app is also doubling down on digital wellness with its new Wind Down feature. Teens under 16 scrolling after 10PM will now be greeted with a calming full-screen experience complete with soothing sounds and a gentle reminder to log off. Stay longer, and the nudge becomes firmer. Coming soon: meditation prompts aimed at improving sleep quality, powered by behavioral science insights.
And it doesn’t stop there. Families now have access to over 15 customizable settings, including daily screen time limits, private account resets, and time-sensitive controls all designed to meet families where they are, while helping young users develop better digital habits.
