MANILA – After bagging a total of 22 awards, MullenLowe Group was named Network of the Year at the Asia-Pacific Tambuli Awards 2016 held at New World Hotel, Makati City.
The Agency of the Year, MullenLowe Lintas India led the group after scooping the Grand Prix Award and two Golds for their campaign for Lifebuoy, ‘Future Child’. The agency also won two Golds for ‘3 More Years’ for Fair & Lovely, making Unilever Ltd. India as the Advertiser of the Year.
Adding to Unilever’s success that night was the awarding of Ms. Gina Lorenzana, Vice President President for Personal Care at Unilever Philippines as the Chief Marketing Communications Officer of the Year.
“Working in Unilever allowed me not just to do creative work but to impact positive change in the world,” said Lorenzana in her acceptance speech.
For the first time, Tambuli gave away a Best of the Decade award to ‘Dumb Ways to Die’ by McCann Melbourne for being one of the most effective campaigns in the last ten years.
In celebration of its 10th anniversary, the Asia-Pacific Tambuli Awards introduced two inaugural special awards. First, the Tambuli Lifetime Achievement Award which is given to an outstanding, highly respected, and accomplished leader in the marketing communications industry for at least 25 years, and known to uphold and believe in the mission and core values of the APAC Tambuli Awards.
The first ever Tambuli Lifetime Achievement Award was conferred on Jayjay Calero, past Chairman and CEO of J. Walter Thompson Philippines. He was with J. Walter Thompson for 30 years, serving as Chairman for eight years, President for fifteen years and Regional Director International Vice President for Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and Philippines for seven years.
Another special award, the Tambuli Crimson, is an award on leadership for good, honoring an eminent industry leader in marketing communications for his or her contribution to the advancement of the profession, while creating positive change and impact in one’s country, region, or the world.
For its inaugural year, the Tambuli Crimson Award was given to adobo magazine Founder, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief, Angel Guerrero for bringing Philippine advertising and the Filipino creativity into the regional and global stage; and to Department of Tourism Sec. Mon Jimenez for his valuable contribution as Secretary of Tourism of the Republic of the Philippines, in promoting the Philippines globally through the excellent use of marketing communications, showcasing the beauty and treasures of the Philippine islands and its people.
The Asia-Pacific Tambuli Awards is an annual award show organized by the University of Asia and the Pacific, celebrating and recognizing brands that do good and do well.
