Design Philippines returns to Paris with a collection that embraces the playful experimentation between artisans and designers to unveil new expressions of world-class home designs. These Filipino design brands speak of their own unique design language but at the same time embody the craft excellence of Design Philippines.
In MAISON&OBJET Paris September edition, Design Philippines will present an inspired collection of 12 unique Philippine brands. The country’s top design brands that have made
an impact in the international scene lead the Design Philippines team: KENNETHCOBONPUE, with Hive, Schema, Industria, and Triboa Bay Living. Emerging Philippine brands join the delegates led by: Lightworks, Padua, Zacarias | S.C. Vizcarra, with the special participation of Asia Ceramics, Domicillo by Peter & Paul, Miguel Aguas for MCCA, and TADECO Home.
“Working side by side with master craftsmen, designers challenge convention by exploring new materials, exaggerating forms, and fusing processes. It is a collaboration seeking the balance between old and new, between intuition and reason. The result is an inspired collection of Design Philippines that bridges generations and yet brings a light, fresh breeze from a distant design shore,” said Rosvi Gaetos, Executive Director of the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM).
KENNETHCONBONPUE, MAISON&OBJET ASIA’s Designer of the Year, presents his new collections of whimsical forms achieved from diverse materials and techniques such as hand-sculpted iron, joined rattan poles, and hand-bended metal sheets. Hive leads with Flutter, a sublime wall art of exquisitely made butterflies out of metal wire and wood pulp. Industria features its hand-forged metal creations that are both industrial yet delicate, starting with their Starburst collection. Lightworks puts on display their Piedra collection, which focuses on the brand’s expertise in gilding to achieve interesting and unique patinas.
Padua explores classic forms and transforms them into modern pieces that are both graphic and tactile. Zacarias | S.C. Vizcarra gives fluidity and elegance to its Monolith and Monochrome collections. Schema, recognized in the September 2013 edition as Interieur TV’s Le Top 10 MAISON&OBJET d’Interieurs, gives a 3D quality to its interpretation of honeycomb in its newest collection of table lamps. Triboa Bay Living presents the Romblon collection, which combines wood and marble as its table surface.
Design Philippines is a branding program of CITEM, the export promotions arm of the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
