MANILA – A gift that now keeps on giving–this is what art director and graphic artist at Shao Long Bald, Troy Sitosta, have given Roderic Almeda, a taxi driver who also owns a small, roving peanut butter business.

On Tuesday, Sitosta posted about having finally labeled Almeda’s Peanut Butter products. He designed a logo and a product label which he describes as “something very simple that could reflect its natural homey origins and pretty enough for his passenger market (the ones who can actually afford to cab).” He designed everything for free, “a good honest work for a good and honest family man.”

Two days after, Sitosta added an update that there had been an outpouring of orders for Almeda’s Peanut Butter, “Kuya has been texting me that he is so thankful for the insane orders he is getting. He would like to request that you all also can text his wife to help him take all the amount of orders. His children are also so happy to help out now in their new budding business. He is eternally grateful and so am I as well. This proves to everyone that being honest with your job really works.”

Sitosta also created a hanging sign for Almeda’s car chairs. According to Sitosta, the signs would help the taxi driver to talk to his passengers about his product. A Facebook page was also created for his peanut butter business which now has 274 likes.

After the good results that this passion project gave to a taxi driver’s humble business, Sitosta encourages other designers to design for good and not just always for money.

“To all designers out there, I say that it is good sometimes to get out of your screens and go outside and do something not for the money but for the simple reason that your talents, although can be mostly under appreciated in your current work jobs, actually can help others in need. This is to remind yourself that your work can actually make a real change. We are tremendously lucky already to even afford to take this line of work,” says Sitosta.

For those who would like to order, please text Kuya Roderic Almeda at 0932 985 1618 (Metro Manila) or his wife Melody Almeda 09156423958.
