Paolo Mercado Is Nestlé Philippines’ director of communication

MANILA – Paolo Mercado, SVP and head of marketing & consumer communication for Nestlé Greater China, has returned to the Philippines to take on the same role for the food giant’s local office.

Mercado (pictured), Nestlé Philippines’ new Senior Vice President and Director of Communication & Marketing Services, has officially started this April.

The industry, however, first spotted him speaking during the second Media Specialists Association of the Philippines (MSAP) Congress from April 13 -14.

Mercado worked in China for three and a half years, developing Nestlé’s internal capabilities in digital listening and engagement.

Before Nestlé China, he was the Global Communication Manager for Nestlé’s Dairy brands in Vevey, Switzerland. His role was global, managing well known Nestlé dairy brands such as Nido, Bear Brand, Coffeemate and Nesvita for Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America.

Mercado was with Publicis prior joining to Nestlé in 2008, working in the agency’s head office in Paris as Deputy Worldwide Account Director also for the same brand. He also helped establish Publicis Manila in 2003, together with the late Minyong Ordonez.

He taught Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) part-time at the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) from 1995 to 2000 and was involved in the early foundation of the Asia-Pacific Tambuli Awards, before its launch in 2005.
