GLOBAL AUGUST 16, 2013-Building buzz ahead of 2014’s World Cup showdown in Brazil, Puma has launched a global football hub as it competes with brand giants Nike and Adidas.

The hub is essentially a portal where fans can interact with footballers such as Sergio Agüero, Marco Reus, Gianluigi Buffon and Thierry Henry.
Fans will be encouraged to submit suggestions for match-day gestures or ways players can celebrate scoring a goal. Puma’s football stars will then perform the winning gesture on match-day.

In the hopes of building its community ahead of the World Cup, the brand will also encourage hub users to share content on the site, which will also previews of Puma product launches.

The brand race to Brazil is heating up. Early this month, adidas unveiled a premium version of its signature adizero F50 boot with slight modifications. The boot personalized for Argentinian football star Lionel Messi featured him in a futuristic TV spot dubbed ‘The New Speed of Light’.

Inspired by the magic of Messi’s on-pitch moves, the spot featured the footballer kitted out in LED lights, which provided a spectacular light show as the star took flight dribbling a ball on a darkened stage.
